This week I chose to highlight the chart of Thorium Power, Ltd. (OTCBB: THPW). THPW spent most of 2007 in a long-term down-trend, making lower highs and lower lows below a declining 200-day moving average (the red line on the chart above). In mid-October, however, THPW hit a low of 0.15 and reversed direction back up. In early December, THPW hit a high of 0.44, close to a triple in less than two months' time.

From there, THPW retraced 50% of the up-move back to a low of 0.30, then turned back up sharply on Friday. Now, THPW has established 0.30 as an important support point, and the stock is making higher highs and higher lows above the 200-day moving average. Any move up from here is likely to move up to a new high for the current up-trend.

If, on the other hand, THPW will now decline and close below 0.30. it will break the up-trend and signal the stock is going back to the 200-day moving average, currently at 0.26.
