This week I chose to highlight the chart of Synthetic Blood International, Inc. (OTCBB: SYBD). Like most of the Small-Cap Highlight charts we feature, for much of the past year, SYBD was in a sideways trend, swinging above and below the 200-day moving average without sustaining much movement in either direction for very long. However, in late October, SYBD started to rally, going from roughly 0.09 to a high last week of 0.33. With the 200-day moving average currently at 0.125, this move is bigger in terms of percentage gain and longer in terms of time than any of the prior moves this past year. This, combined with a high reading in Relative Strength Differential (RSD), our proprietary indicator for selecting stocks in super-strong up-trends, indicates that there is a significant up-trend underway here, one which is likely to last a long time and produce even bigger gains.

As with all stocks, whether or not they continue to go up or not after the initial up-leg away from the 200-day moving average is up to them. Since we cannot control which way the stocks go, the only thing we can do is try to time our entry into them to minimize risk and maximize the likelihood that they will go up after we get in. That means waiting for the right time to get in, and not just jump in emotionally just because "it's going up". So keep SYBD on your radar screen and look for the right time to get in.
